Java Books
Here are the Java books I've bought in an attempt to go from 0 to 100 in a matter of weeks. Some of them are fairly specific to my needs, like the virtual machine internals.

so which books helped you?
Effective Java is good.
Java Programming Language and Java Virtual Machine Specifications are the "authoritative" references.
The two Core Java books are ok, but I found Schildt's book a little better.
I haven't read the concurrency book yet.
I like pocket guides for a quick reference.
